Welcome to FixQuotes.com ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using our website, browser extension, Discord bot, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

FixQuotes provides a curated collection of quotations, author biographies, and related content. Our services include:

Website: Browse, search, and share quotes at fixquotes.com
Browser Extension: View the Quote of the Day on new browser tabs
Discord Bot: Receive daily quotes and search quotes within Discord servers
Slack App: Automate daily motivation and search quotes within Slack workspaces
WordPress Plugin: Add Quote of the Day widgets to WordPress sites
RSS Feed & Widget: Subscribe to or embed our Quote of the Day

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or interfere with the Service
Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service through automated means without permission
Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or entity
Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices

4. Intellectual Property

Quote Content: Quotations displayed on FixQuotes are attributed to their respective authors. We strive for accurate attribution but do not claim ownership of the quotes themselves. If you believe a quote is misattributed or infringes your rights, please contact us.

Our Content: The website design, logos, original commentary, images, and other materials created by FixQuotes are our property and protected by copyright. You may share quotes with proper attribution but may not reproduce our original content for commercial purposes without permission.

5. Discord Bot Terms

By adding the FixQuotes Discord bot to your server, you additionally agree that:

You have the authority to add bots to the Discord server
The bot will access only the minimum permissions required to function (sending messages to configured channels)
We may collect basic usage data (e.g., command usage counts) to improve the service, but we do not collect personal messages or user data
We reserve the right to remove bot access from servers that violate these Terms or Discord's Terms of Service

6. Slack App Terms

By installing the FixQuotes Slack app to your workspace, you additionally agree that:

You have the authority to install apps to the Slack workspace
The app will access only the permissions explicitly granted during installation: chat:write (post to channels the bot is in), chat:write.public (post to public channels), and commands (respond to slash commands)
We do not access, read, or store your private messages or conversation history
We store workspace and channel IDs required to deliver the "Quote of the Day" to subscribed channels
We collect basic usage data (e.g., which commands are used, which quotes are delivered) to improve the service and avoid repeating quotes, but we do not collect personal user data or message content
We reserve the right to remove app access from workspaces that violate these Terms or Slack's Acceptable Use Policy

7. User Submissions

If you submit quotes, corrections, or other content to us, you grant FixQuotes a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service. You represent that you have the right to submit such content.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party platforms (e.g., Discord, social media). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of these third parties. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FIXQUOTES AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 USD.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) shall survive.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
