Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FixQuotes.com, the Community portal, browser extension, Discord bot, Slack app, WordPress plugin, feeds, widgets, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and Authority

You must be at least 13 years old and meet any higher minimum age required by the laws of your country or by a third-party platform you use with the Service. If you have not reached the age of majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

If you add a bot, install an app, configure a subscription, or manage a custom quote collection for a server, workspace, or organization, you confirm that you have authority to perform that action.

2. The Service

FixQuotes provides a curated quotation library and related editorial content, daily quote delivery, search and subscription tools, integrations, and a Community portal where eligible administrators can manage custom quotes. Features may change, be suspended, or be discontinued.

3. Discord Community Access

• Community access uses Discord OAuth and is linked to your Discord account. Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply to your use of Discord.
• You may manage a Discord server's custom quotes only while you are the server owner or have Discord's Administrator or Manage Server permission.
• You must not bypass permission checks or use access obtained in error. FixQuotes may refresh permissions and end access when your Discord permissions change.
• You are responsible for the security of your Discord account and for actions performed through your authenticated Community session. Notify us promptly if you believe the session has been compromised.

4. Shared Administration

A custom quote collection is shared at the server or workspace level. Any administrator with the required permission may add, edit, or delete its content. Their changes may immediately affect what other administrators see and what the bot delivers. Coordinate important changes with the other administrators; FixQuotes is not responsible for disputes between administrators.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use the Service to:

• break the law, infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights, or violate Discord's or Slack's rules;
• submit content that is threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative, defamatory, fraudulent, or otherwise harmful;
• publish personal or confidential information without lawful authority;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent a quotation's author or source;
• send spam, malware, malicious links, or content designed to disrupt the Service;
• gain unauthorized access, evade rate limits or permission checks, probe vulnerabilities without authorization, or interfere with other users;
• scrape or collect data through automated means except through an authorized feed, API, or written permission; or
• remove or obscure proprietary notices.

6. Your Content and Licence

You retain any rights you have in custom quotes, corrections, suggestions, and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and that its use through the Service will not violate law or another person's rights.

You grant FixQuotes a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, format, display, transmit, back up, and otherwise process Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, and maintain the Service. This licence lasts while the content is retained under our Privacy Policy. Shared active quote content may remain after you delete your Community account because the collection belongs to the server or workspace; your administrator identity will be removed or anonymized as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

We may review reports, remove or restrict content, suspend an integration or Community account, preserve evidence, or notify a platform or authority when we reasonably believe it is necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users or the Service, or comply with law. We are not required to pre-screen every custom quote.

8. Permission Loss and Account Deletion

If you lose the required server or workspace permission, your management access ends even if you originally created the collection. Other authorized administrators may continue managing it.

Deleting your Community account ends your personal access and removes or anonymizes account and actor data as described in the Privacy Policy. It does not delete the server's active shared quote collection. Delete any quote you want removed before deleting your account, ask another authorized administrator, or contact us if you can no longer access it.

9. Discord Bot and Slack App

• You must have authority to add the Discord bot or install the Slack app and to select the channels where it posts.
• You are responsible for configuring platform permissions and informing members as required by your rules or applicable law.
• The integrations process platform, channel, command, administrator, subscription, and delivery data as explained in our Privacy Policy. They do not use their granted permissions to read private messages or conversation history.
• You can stop delivery using the available unsubscribe command or by removing the integration.
• We may remove access from a server or workspace that violates these Terms, Discord's Terms, or Slack's applicable terms and policies.

10. FixQuotes Content and Intellectual Property

Quotations are attributed to their respective authors. We work to improve accuracy but do not claim ownership of third-party quotations and cannot guarantee every attribution. Please report suspected infringement or misattribution.

The FixQuotes name, logos, website design, original commentary, original images, software, and other materials created by us are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except where a feature or licence expressly permits it, you may not copy or exploit that material commercially without permission.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with or links to services operated by Discord, Slack, Google, and others. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their availability, content, privacy practices, or terms. Changes by a third party may interrupt a FixQuotes feature.

12. Service Availability and Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and do not promise that the Service will always be available, error-free, complete, secure, or suitable for a particular purpose. Quotations and related content are provided for general informational purposes, not professional advice.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FixQuotes and its owners, personnel, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, platform requirements, non-payment where applicable, or a violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including content licences for retained material, intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability provisions, will survive.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. We will post the revised Terms here and update the date above. If a change materially affects existing Community users, we will take reasonable steps to provide additional notice. Continuing to use the Service after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory rights and protections provided by the law and courts of your country of residence.
