We develop video games to make things challenging for ourselves, and in doing so, we discover pleasure and complete satisfaction in overcoming the obstacles. This is why we play video games like chess, checkers, and other parlor game. We also play sports, which require physical and mental strength, along with strategy. Even computer game, which are frequently seen as a type of escapism, require skill and method to progress. By making things hard for ourselves, we have the ability to experience a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. This is why we continue to play games, even when we understand the outcome. We enjoy the obstacle and the sensation of success that comes with it.
