It highlights the reality that, in spite of being one of the most developed countries worldwide, the United States is lagging behind in regards to its commitment to helping those in requirement. This quote works as a call to action for Americans to do more to assist those who are less lucky. It is a suggestion that we have a duty to use our resources to assist those who are having a hard time and that we ought to not be content with being last in regards to providing to the poor. We need to strive to be much better and to do more to ensure that everybody has access to the resources they need to live a life of self-respect and security.
