This quote by Gregg Allman is referring to the time when The Beatles first became popular in the early 1960s. During this time, it seemed like everybody was forming a band and attempting to make it big. This created a great deal of competition amongst striving musicians, as everybody was trying to make their mark in the music industry. It was a time of fantastic imagination and innovation, as artists were pushing the borders of what was possible in music. The Beatles were a significant impact on much of these bands, and their success inspired many to pursue their own musical dreams. The competitors was intense, however it was likewise a time of excellent opportunity for those who wanted to take the threat and put in the effort.
