Biography

Stuart Pearce, born April 24, 1962 in London, England, is a former professional football player (defender) and later as a coach since 2007, the manager of the England Under-21 national team, and temporarily appointed coach of the English national team since 9 February 2012. He played 78 internationals for England between 1987 and 1999, including 10 games as team captain.

The bulk of his career came Pearce to spend in Nottingham Forest, where he was recruited in 1985 by the club's former manager Brian Clough. In Nottingham he won the English League Cup in 1989 and 1990, which became his only major titles in his career. Pearce Nottingham remained faithful until 1997, when he went to Newcastle United. His career ended, at nearly age 40, the spring of 2002 when he co-led the Manchester City return to Premier League.

2005-2007 he was the coach of Manchester City. Since 2007 he is coach of the England Under-21 national team, and October 14, 2008, he took them to the finals of the U21 European Championships in Sweden in 2009.
