Introduction
"Cop Car" (2015) is an exhilarating drama directed by Jon Watts, featuring outstanding efficiencies from Kevin Bacon, James Freedson-Jackson, and Hays Wellford. The storyline, soaked in thriller and stress, follows 2 young boys who find an abandoned police car and the unsafe adventures that unfold when they choose to take it for a ride. The ultimate blend of naiveté and innocence with the ruthless truth of the criminal world forms the core of this edgy thriller.

Plot Overview
In the beginning of the movie, we are presented to 2 pre-teen buddies, Travis (played by James Freedson-Jackson) and Harrison (played by Hays Wellford). They come across an empty sheriff's cars and truck in a remote area beyond their little rural town in Colorado. Being adventurous and ignorant, they decide to take the car for a spin, which results in a series of unanticipated situations.

The vehicle comes from Sheriff Kretzer (Kevin Bacon), who is painted as a corrupt law enforcer with criminal connections. Realizing that his automobile has been taken, and with it, damning proof of his dishonest activities, Kretzer starts a terrifying pursuit to reclaim his lorry.

Centerpiece
The kids invest the day joyriding, unconcerned to the Sheriff's growing desperate attempts to find his missing out on police car. On the other hand, Kretzer reveals his cunning and ruthless nature as he gathers weapons and equipment, all set to go at any lengths to retrieve his cars and truck.

A switch in story sees Travis and Harrison discovering a guy tied and beaten in the trunk of the cop car. After some doubt, they decide to free him, further making complex the situation when the man takes the kids hostage.

Climactic Events and Conclusion
While the boys are held hostage, Kretzer finds his cop car and encounters the freed guy. A lethal face-off ensues in between the guy from the trunk and Kretzer, with shots being fired and leaving both men fatally wounded.

On the other hand, Travis, who had found out previously how to operate the cop car's rifle, unintentionally fires a shot, hitting Harrison. In the final scenes, Travis, seeing his injured friend, repels looking for help. He experiences a highway patrolman who radios in for medical help as Travis sobs in the chauffeur's seat and the movie ends in a suspenseful ambiguity as we don't see what happens next.

Overall Impression
"Cop Car" is a special mix of childhood experience tale and cooling thriller. Featuring a remarkable efficiency from Bacon as the relentless and shrewd Sheriff Kretzer, the film effectively contrasts the innocence and naiveté of youth versus the severe truths and dangerous underbelly of the adult world. The interesting story that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats together with compelling performances constitute the obvious strengths of the film.
