Introduction
"The Possession" is a 2012 supernatural scary movie directed by Ole Bornedal and produced by Sam Raimi. This chilling movie was influenced by the Jewish folktale of the dybbuk box and the story has to do with a young girl who becomes had by a fiend that lives within an antique box that her dad purchased at a yard sale.

Plot Summary
"The Possession" starts with Clyde Brenek, a basketball coach who is divorced from Stephanie. They share custody of their two children, Em and Hannah. During a weekend visitation, Clyde takes his children to a yard sale where Em becomes drawn in to an antique box embellished with Hebrew inscriptions. Clyde buys it for her, unknowingly setting off a chain of sinister events.

Right after getting the box, Em's habits begins to grow increasingly odd and troubling. Her health weakens, a darkness fills her eyes, and she ends up being hostile towards her siblings and parents. After lots of weird occurrences, including the infestation of moths in their house, Clyde investigates package. He finds it opens to reveal a covert compartment consisting of a dessicated corpse, which it is a 'dybbuk box' that contains a malicious Jewish spirit.

With Em's condition worsening, Clyde reaches out to a Jewish professor at a close-by university. The professor describes the story of the dybbuk which Em's possession will progressively intensify up until it totally consumes her. He suggests looking for the assistance of a Hassidic rabbi named Tzadok.

Resolution
Clyde, now understanding the gravity of the situation, goes to persuade Stephanie about the supernatural incidents plaguing their daughter. At first hesitant, Stephanie is rapidly encouraged after experiencing Em's odd and terrifying behavior. They then look for Rabbi Tzadok's assistance, who consents to carry out a Jewish exorcism in an orthodox Jewish location of Brooklyn.

The last scenes of the motion picture take place in an extreme face-off. Tzadok and Clyde sign up with forces to conserve Em from the satanic force who's had her body. The exorcism scene is filled with normal components of the genre - with the had child speaking in tongues, the spirit revealing its real type, and havoc taking place in the room. After a spirited battle, Tzadok effectively expels the spirit, which goes into package again. Instantly later, though, an auto accident tragically eliminates Tzadok, leaving Clyde and Em to get away. The box is last seen at another yard sale, waiting for its next victim.

Conclusion
The Possession provides as a scary movie with its gripping and extreme narrative. The plot, although following common tropes of the category, stands apart due to its distinct property that depends on Jewish folklore rather than the normal Christian-based exorcism stories in popular culture. Overall, the film is an amalgamation of household drama and supernatural horror that produces a thrilling film experience.
