After a mobster agrees to cooperate with an FBI investigation in order to stay out of prison, he's relocated by the authorities to a life of suburban anonymity as part of a witness protection program. It's not long before a couple of his new neighbours figure out his true identity and come knocking to see if he'd be up for one more hit—suburban style.

Plot Summary

Suddenly, his life takes a sharp detour when he finds his brand-new neighbor, Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (Bruce Willis) - an infamous gunman hiding out from a Chicago mob.

Jimmy, having snitched on his mob manager Yanni Gogolak (Kevin Pollak), is desired by the other mob members for breaking the code of silence. As Oz gets knotted in the dangerous underworld, Sophie coercively sends him to Chicago with a scheme to rat out Jimmy for a significant reward from Gogolak.

Unexpected Alliances & Twists
Meanwhile, Oz satisfies Cynthia (Natasha Henstridge), Jimmy's estranged spouse, and establishes sensations for her. On the other hand, Oz's receptionist, Jill (Amanda Peet), who desires be a hitwoman, finds out about Jimmy's real identity and is amazed by him. She clandestinely follows Oz to Chicago, but rather of turning Jimmy in, she saves him from an attack, inaugurating her entry into the violent underworld.

In a rather unanticipated twist, it turns out that Jimmy and Sophie had prepared everything from the start, meaning to eliminate Gogolak and his partners. Oz, unknowingly, becomes a pawn in their devious plan.

Resolution
Oz gets away back to Montreal before the organized execution, but not prior to informing Jimmy of Sophie's computing intentions. In a series of quick, thrilling occasions, Jimmy and Jill get rid of Gogolak and his guys, while protecting the reward for disclosing Jimmy's location, which was incorrectly claimed by Sophie.

Towards completion, to Oz's shock, Sophie is killed by Frankie Figs (Michael Clarke Duncan), another gunman, under orders from Jimmy, avenging the preliminary betrayal.

Endings and Beginnings
The film ends on a pleased note with Oz and Cynthia together and finally releasing themselves from Sophie and Jimmy, who retired from his life of criminal offense. Jill, now a certified hitwoman, goes on to work independently.
