In this quote, Henry Miller recommends that analysis, or the procedure of taking a look at and breaking down something, does not have the ability to treat or solve issues. Instead, it just brings awareness to the existence of a negative element or issue. This is ironic since the act of becoming mindful of this problem is in itself a kind of consciousness. Miller implies that this realization can be uneasy or unpleasant, as it requires us to confront the existence of something negative. Nevertheless, it also enables us to acknowledge and possibly resolve the problem, resulting in personal growth and advancement.
