Subtextually, Kasdan is selling the labor of translation as romance. Adaptation becomes “an adventure,” not a negotiation among studios, egos, budgets, rights, and fandom expectations. “That’s part of what draws you to it” is the producer’s ethos in miniature: the attraction isn’t certainty, it’s the controlled gamble.
