War & Peace Quote by Greg Akcelrod

"I am very proud to be a part of the Livestrong Foundation. I am maybe only a member but I give everything I can to be sure that people understand that cancer is a disease for everybody - not only in France, in Europe, in Asia, it is all over the world. We must fight together, we must make something to fight the cancer, we must Livestrong"

About this Quote

Pride is doing a lot of work here, less as self-congratulation than as a bid for credibility. Akcelrod frames himself as "maybe only a member" to shrink his status before expanding his moral reach: he is not the hero, he’s the witness who can’t unsee what cancer does. That modesty is strategic. It lowers the defenses of an audience that might otherwise hear celebrity activism as branding, then pivots into a broad, insistently inclusive claim: cancer is "for everybody". The phrasing is blunt, almost awkward, and that’s part of its force. It refuses the comfort of distance. No one gets to treat the disease as someone else’s problem, tucked neatly into another country or another class.

The geography list - France, Europe, Asia - is both earnest and revealing. It’s a sports-world map, sketched in the language of international competition and travel. Subtext: athletes see the planet as a circuit, and the same way fans rally under one flag, they can be asked to rally under a shared vulnerability. The repetition of "we must" reads like locker-room rhetoric repurposed for public health: urgency without policy detail, motivation over mechanism.

Context matters, too: Livestrong carries a complicated cultural charge, associated with a once-mythic cancer narrative that later collided with scandal. By saying "I am part of", Akcelrod taps the residual power of collective identity while trying to steer it back toward the cause itself. "We must Livestrong" is less a sentence than a chant - a call to convert awareness into solidarity, and solidarity into action, even if the action is still undefined.
