Wally Schirra is recommending that instead of going to the Moon first to develop a launch pad to go to Mars, we must go to Mars from Earth orbit. He thinks that considering that we have currently been to the Moon and have already practiced, it would be more effective to go to Mars from Earth orbit. This would conserve time and resources, as we would not have to develop a launch pad on the Moon. Schirra's tip is that we must use the knowledge and experience we have actually currently acquired from our previous journeys to the Moon to go to Mars from Earth orbit. This would be a more effective and cost-effective way to reach our objective of going to Mars.
