"It is only when the hearts of the Women are in the mud, that the People are destroyed"
About this Quote
The subtext is political triage. Morning Star is arguing that private life is not private at all: how a society treats women in the home, in labor, in public safety, in sexual norms, is how it trains itself to treat everyone. When women are dragged down, the social trust that makes “the People” cohere corrodes: families fracture, violence becomes ordinary, institutions lose legitimacy, and the future quite literally gets raised in degradation.
It also carries a strategic paternalism common to statecraft: women are framed as the moral core whose violation signals national doom. That can be read as protective rhetoric or as instrumentalizing women as symbols rather than citizens. Either way, the intent is clear: degrade women and you don’t just injure a group - you sabotage the entire civic project.
