The phrase also does double work: it scapegoats Jews as puppet masters while positioning white grievance as righteous liberation.

The context is the post-civil rights era rebranding of open white nationalism into something that can survive public scrutiny. Duke, a media-savvy figure, learned to swap overt slurs for bureaucratic euphemisms and to wrap segregation in the language of “rights” and “freedom.” The intent is coalition-building through coded respectability: make racism sound like restoration, make antisemitism sound like anti-elitism, and turn pluralism into an enemy occupation.
