Religion guides people in self-mastery, self-restraint, and the control of lower impulses, steering individuals toward compassion, justice, and humility.

King implies that knowledge without wisdom can lead to reckless use of power. Scientific advancements, when removed from ethical considerations, have potential for destruction as much as for progress. Neither science nor religion should be regarded as sufficient on its own; together, they balance each other. The harmony King envisions is one where power is tempered by conscientious control, ensuring advancement serves humanity’s highest ideals rather than undermining them.
