Between imperial policing, the Spanish Civil War, and the propaganda ecosystems he anatomized, he learned that education doesn’t immunize anyone against conformity. The sentence works because it’s psychologically accurate and politically pointed: it narrows the gap between “them” and “us,” then reminds both groups that the real battleground is inside the same inconsistent human creature.
