A lot of people want human rights to be a posture: a language you can speak fluently while the actual clinic runs on scarcity, shortcuts, and triage as ideology. Paul Farmer refuses that split. “The only way to do the human rights thing is to do the right thing medically” is a deliberately compressive sentence: it collapses a moral argument into a clinical standard, then dares you to pretend they’re separable.
