These exceptions include kid pornography, cross burning, libel, and battling words. Child porn is prohibited because it includes the exploitation of minors. Cross burning is a type of intimidation and is considered a hate crime. Libel is the act of making false and damaging statements about somebody. Fighting words are words that are most likely to provoke violence. All of these exceptions to free speech are recognized by the law and are not protected by the First Amendment.
