"Things like that become a blur - shot at some soundstage, somewhere - that's as much as I can remember"
About this Quote
The intent feels twofold: to puncture the romantic idea that every creative milestone is etched in memory, and to protect a private self from the public's hunger for behind-the-scenes intimacy. "That's as much as I can remember" is a boundary dressed as amnesia. It tells the interviewer (and the audience) that the archive you want doesn't exist, or at least isn't available.
Coming from Zombie, whose brand trades in vivid, grindhouse detail, the flatness is the point. He's known for constructing worlds drenched in texture; here he reveals the industrial underside of those worlds. The subtext is less "I'm forgetful" than "you're mistaking product for experience". Art can be sharp even when the process is routine. Sometimes the most memorable thing about a cultural artifact is how quickly its making disappears into the next gig.
