The repetition of “animals” is doing quiet work, too. It refuses the euphemisms that let people feel humane while participating in harm: not “meat,” not “leather,” not “sport,” but animals, over and over, insisting on the subjecthood of the beings being consumed, worn, and displayed. Grouping eating, clothing, and entertainment under the same grammatical roof is another strategic move.
