Samuel Daniel was an English poet and also historian that lived from 1562 to 1619. He was born in Taunton, Somerset, and was the boy of a music instructor. Daniel was educated at Magdalen Hall at the University of Oxford and later on became a tutor to the kid of the effective Lord Chancellor of England, Sir Christopher Hatton.

Daniel initially obtained popularity as a poet with his work, "Delia", a collection of sonnets that were published in 1592. This work established him as the leading poet of his generation, and he remained to create poetry throughout his life.

Along with his job as a poet, Daniel was a reputable historian. He wrote a variety of jobs, including "The History of England", which covered the duration from the Roman invasion to the regime of Henry VIII. This work was praised for its precision and style, and it is still thought about a crucial historical work today.

Daniel's various other works consist of the play, "The Tragedy of Philotas", and the masque, "Tethys' Festival". He also created a variety of court masques which were done before the royal court of James I.
