Introduction
"A Little Princess", is a quiet film launched in 1917, and it is based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's precious children's novel of the exact same name. It features Mary Pickford, one of the most popular starlets of the period, ahead role of Sara Crewe. The film was directed by Marshall Neilan and produced by Artcraft, an affiliate of Paramount Pictures. This film's story weaves a tapestry exploring themes such as wealth, hardship, creativity, relationship, kindness, and class problems.

Sara's Arrival
The film portrays Sarah Crewe (played by Mary Pickford) as an abundant woman who gets enrolled in Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies. The personal boarding school, which boasts glamorous features, making it an ideal setting for a rich heiress, quickly becomes Sara's new home. Sara, although privileged, is simple, kind-hearted, generous, and compassionate towards others.

The Tragedy
Despite Sara's vibrant life at the luxurious boarding school, disaster soon strikes and changes whatever. Sara's father, Captain Richard Crewe, who is deeply involved in the diamond market, unfortunately, dies in a siege. His demise leaves Sara with no wealth left, plunging her into abject poverty. Miss Minchin (played by Katherine Griffith), the boarding school headmistress, promptly benches Sara to a scullery housemaid's position after knowing of her impoverishment.

Change
Sara's unexpected twist of fate from being an abundant, well-respected trainee to an improperly dealt with servant dramatically alters her life within the four walls of the school. Her indulgent life is replaced with long hours of grueling domestic work and a near lack of empathy or regard. Despite the tough situations, Sara stays kind and resistant, keeping her faith and imagination to create her magical tales.

Sara's Rich Neighbor
Sara's backdrop changes when her next-door neighbor, whom she used to watch from her attic window, turns out to be a wealthy guy who discovered the diamond mines coming from Sara's late dad. Revealing Sara Favours and being impressed by her stories, he Jessica Mitchell starts providing her gifts unknowingly that formerly came from her own dad.

The Climax
The climax of the film is full of drama and suspense. One night, while getting away from school to visit her confidential benefactor, Sara is discovered by the police. They think she may be an intruder; as they pursue her, she escapes into the rich neighbor's house. As she tells her heart-touching story and the fact about her life, it is exposed that her father's attorney has actually been searching for her to inform her about her freshly discovered wealth. Sara is now the owner of the diamond mines and, as a result, owner of a massive fortune.

Conclusion
The movie ends on a delighted note with Sara deciding to reward those who were kind to her during her challenges by inviting them to share her fortune. On the other hand, she gets rid of the terrible Miss Minchin from her life. "A Little Princess" hence perfectly passes on a message that mankind and compassion are the only wealth that never depletes, regardless of scenarios. Marie Pickford's dynamic acting abilities further improve the relatability and psychological quotient of the film, making it a touching and remarkable leader of timeless Hollywood movie theater.
