When Alita awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido, a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.

Plot Summary
"Alita: Battle Angel", is an action-packed cyberpunk movie directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron. It was released in 2019 and is based upon a popular Japanese manga series by Yukito Kishiro, called "Battle Angel Alita".

The movie starts with Dr. Dyson Ido, a cyberphysicist, finding a disembodied female cyborg with a totally undamaged human brain in the scrapyard of Iron City. He restores her and names her Alita, after his late child. Alita gets up without any memory, however finds she can comprehend many languages, hinting at a potentially sophisticated previous life.

Secret and Revelation
Alita struggles to uncover her significant past, all while experiencing familiar yet inexplicable fight instincts. She befriends a human boy named Hugo, who assists Alita experience life in Iron City and teaches her about the floating city, Zalem. The dystopian society is divided, with the rich residents living in Zalem while the poor live in Iron City below.

Alita has flashbacks of combating on the moon and recognizes herself as a skilled warrior from Mars. She ultimately restores the memory of her identity as a Berserker, an extremely advanced, terrifying cyborg soldier, created during the excellent war.

Dispute and Battles
Upon knowing her identity, Alita is plunged into a world of conflict as she battles enemies in the brutal sport of Motorball and battle cybernetic assassins sent by Vector, a powerful business person. Her abilities and skills make her a prime target for Vector, who prepares to manage her and utilize her in his mission to reach Zalem.

A considerable plot twist happens when Alita discovers that Ido is a Hunter-Warrior (fugitive hunter) and that Hugo participates in prohibited activities, dismantling cyborgs for parts. In spite of these discoveries, Alita remains bound by her nostalgic attachments.

Climax and Conclusion
The story reaches its climax when Hugo is accused of his criminal offenses and targeted by Hunter-Warriors. In an effort to conserve him, Alita handles numerous harmful challengers, but can not avoid Hugo's death.

The film ends on a cliffhanger, leaving space for a follow up. It concludes with Alita being a popular champion in the harsh Motorball competition - a stepping stone for her supreme objective to reach Zalem and retaliate on her invisible enemy, Nova.

Themes and Symbolism
"Alita: Battle Angel" is abundant with themes of memory, identity, and humankind. Alita's journey to self-discovery and approval, as well as her decision to combat for love and justice, make her character generally appealing.
