Annie (2014)

Annie Poster

Annie is a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan. But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks—advised by his brilliant VP and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor—makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.

Introduction
"Annie" is a 2014 classic theatre musical-inspired American comedy movie, directed by Will Gluck and produced by James Laski, Jay Brown, and Tyran Smith, to name a few. The movie is a contemporary adjustment of the eponymous 1977 Broadway musical, which was based upon the 1924 cartoon, Little Orphan Annie, by Harold Gray. The story focuses on a young and joyful foster kid who lives with the cynical, mean-spirited Miss Hannigan.

Plot Summary
The movie follows Annie Bennett, a ten-year-old woman living in Harlem. She lives in an orphanage run by the constantly intoxicated and bitter Miss Hannigan. Despite the situations, Annie stays positive and holds onto the hope that her biological parents, who left her a half locket as a baby, will sooner or later return to select her up.

One day, while being chased after by bullies, Annie accidentally runs into and is saved by William "Will" Stacks, a wealthy yet negative business person and mayoral prospect. Seeing this occurrence as a chance to acquire votes, Stacks takes Annie house for a brief duration. Annie brings along a wave of modification and positivity to Stacks' life and service, impacting him significantly.

Character Development
Stacks initially sees Annie as a prop to enhance his political project, but he quickly gets connected to her irrepressible spirit and optimism. As Stacks invests more time with Annie, his harsh disposition begins to soften, and he changes into a caring father figure. Likewise, Grace, Stacks' persistent personal assistant, starts warming up to Annie, handling a motherly function. On the other hand, Miss Hannigan, still bitter, coordinate with a scheming couple who impersonate Annie's moms and dads to catch a significant benefit revealed by Stacks.

Climax and Resolution
In the climax, Annie is kidnapped by the fake parents, and a gripping rescue operation takes place. Stacks, along with his group, uses his intelligence and technology to find Annie. At The Same Time, Miss Hannigan, who had a change of heart and felt guilty about her actions, helps in the rescue.

The motion picture ends on a pleased note with Stacks adopting Annie after his victory in the mayoral elections. Taking the moment, he proposes to Grace, thus providing Annie the household she always dreamed of. On The Other Hand, Miss Hannigan finds redemption and sees the mistake of her ways, guaranteeing to deal with the other orphans much better.

Total Verdict
The 2014 variation of "Annie" leverages the timeless beauty of the classic story and integrates it with contemporary elements to create an upbeat, feel-good musical with a modern take, which resonates with a broad audience base. Annie's story of hope, optimism, and durability supplies the ideal contrast to Stacks' transformation from a cynic to a caring daddy figure. Dynamic efficiencies from Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie and Jamie Foxx as Stacks, along with memorable music ratings, notably "Tomorrow" and "It's a Hard-Knock Life", add to the beauty of this heart-warming household film.
