Aquaman Poster

Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Arthur Curry, Orm's half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne.

Film Overview
"Aquaman" is a 2018 American superhero film directed by James Wan and produced by Peter Safran and Rob Cowan. The movie, based on characters from DC Comics, stars Jason Momoa as the titular character, along with Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, and others. "Aquaman" follows the story of Arthur Curry (Aquaman), a half-human, half-Atlantean prince who starts a journey of self-discovery and heroism.

Plot
The movie begins with the lighthouse keeper Thomas Curry saving Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), the queen of the undersea country of Atlantis, during a storm. The 2 fall in love, and their union leads to a child, Arthur Curry. Following an attack from Atlantean soldiers, Atlanna is forced to leave her brand-new household and return to Atlantis to protect them, facing penalty for bearing a half-breed boy.

As Arthur matures, he's coached by Atlantean councilor Nudis Vulko (Willem Dafoe) in the ways of his Atlantean heritage, training him in combat and informing him about his birthright. Arthur possesses superhuman strength, can interact with sea life, and exhibits numerous other extraordinary abilities.

Main Conflict and Resolution
Vulko communicates to Arthur about his half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), who plans to declare war on the surface world for polluting the oceans. He exposes that Orm intends to unify the 7 undersea kingdoms to handle the surface world, hence ending up being the "Ocean Master". Arthur initially refuses to get involved, however he later consents to challenge Orm

To stand any opportunity of defeating Orm and taking the throne, Arthur must retrieve the sacred Trident of Atlan, a powerful artifact that will affirm his claim as the true king of Atlantis. Accompanied by Mera (Amber Heard), a strong Atlantean warrior, Arthur deals with a series of trials and tribulations, both on land and in the ocean depths, facing hostile sea creatures, disloyal Atlanteans, and a ruthless pirate called the Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II).

After an arduous journey to the hidden sea -a mythical place situated at the Earth's center-, Arthur retrieves the Trident of Atlan, acquiring complete control over the sea and its creatures. With its power, he engages Orm in an intense battle, beating him and claiming the throne, thus ending up being the rightful king of Atlantis.

Conclusion
"Aquaman" culminates with Arthur accepting his dual heritage as both a surface dweller and an Atlantean, dealing with both with respect and vowing to protect them equally. With his newly found identity and obligation as king, Aquaman promises to bridge the space in between land and sea, creating a brand-new future for Atlantis and the entire world.

The movie concludes with Aquaman, with Mera by his side, rising from the ocean's depth to the cheers of his people, setting the phase for possible sequels and additional adventures. Meanwhile, on the surface world, Black Manta, who was beat previously in the movie, is seen preparing revenge versus Aquaman, meaning future disputes.

In all, "Aquaman" supplies a sweeping, visually spectacular expedition of a lesser-known DC superhero, transforming him into a complex, charismatic character with an excellent arc. Specifically noteworthy is how the film effectively turns the undersea universe of Atlantis into a majestic, incredibly detailed landscape bristling with life and prospective peril. This epic experience brings to life the vast, undersea world of Aquaman in a manner that integrates experience, action, dream, and humor.
