Film Background
"Body Heat" is an American neo-noir movie launched in 1981, written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan. The motion picture marks Kasdan's directorial debut and stars William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, and Richard Crenna in prominent roles. The story unfolds in the blistering heat of Florida, where illegal love and thoroughly prepared deception cause overall damage.

Plot Synopsis
"Body Heat" revolves around Ned Racine (William Hurt), an underperforming Florida attorney whose life takes an extreme turn when he delights in an extramarital affair with a married woman, Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner). Matty is unhappily wed to Edmund Walker (Richard Crenna), a rich and corrupt business owner.

Matty seduces Ned into a steamy affair and convinces him to murder her partner so they might live together freely with her other half's wealth. While Ned does most of the plotting and manual labor, Matty manipulates from the sideline, subtly affecting every twist and turn in Ned's fancy murder plan. They successfully execute the murder and make it appear as a robbery failed, causing a series of deceits, doubling-crossing, and criminal offenses.

Twists and Revelations
The plot thickens when Lowenstein (Ted Danson), a prosecutor buddy of Ned's, investigates the murder and discovers several disparities. While Ned had actually covered his tracks well, he begins panicking after the body is exhumed for further examination. Concurrently, Matty disappears, leaving Ned with an idea about her whereabouts.

Later on, it's exposed that "Matty Walker" was really Matty's high school buddy, Mary Ann Simpson, who had presumed Walker's identity. She had manipulated Ned into eliminating the genuine Matty Walker, while she removed with the deceased's wealth.

Ending
By the time Ned comprehends the turns of events, it's far too late. He's detained and charged with Edmund's murder, while Mary Ann, camouflaged as the genuine Matty, leaves complimentary, rich, and unnoticed. The movie ends with a shot of "Matty", in an elegant estate on an island, listening to the news of Ned's conviction.
