Comic artist and writer Woody performs a simple courier operation for his friend Harry who works for the CIA. But when he successfully fends off hostile agents, he earns the respect of the beautiful Natalia, who requests his assistance for her defection. Woody uses this request as leverage to use the CIA's resources to bring his comic book creation, Condorman, to life to battle the evil Krokov.

Plot Summary of 'Condorman'
'Condorman' is an American adventure comedy movie launched in 1981, directed by Charles Jarrott and produced by Walt Disney Productions. It focuses on a comic book author who changes into his superhero creation, dealing with odds that most of us only experience in fiction. Michael Crawford stars as Woody Wilkins, an imaginative and comically inefficient, yet well-meaning art school graduate who composes and shows comics including the superhero Condorman. His illustrator task for the comics character enables him to develop and check out his lavish gizmos.

Exploits in Reality
The plot thickens when Woody's friend, Harry, working for the CIA, hires him for an easy courier job, delivering passport documents to a client in Istanbul. Woody finds that the customer, Natalia (Barbara Carrera), is a stunning Soviet spy and he falls for her on the area. Natalia, fascinated by his eccentric nature, reciprocates his sensations. They're uninformed though, that Natalia is being tailed by among her own, the callous Krokov.

The Reality of Fantasy
Woody happily helps Natalia to flaw from the Soviet Union. However, under one condition - he'll help only if the CIA arranges for him to conduct his missions as Condorman. This triggers a series of comedic events as he attempts to end up being a real-life secret representative superhero complete with all his crazy comic book gadgetry. Bringing dream into truth, Woody utilizes comic-book-inspired devices, costumes, and lorries, causing chaos around Paris where the story occurs. He isn't your normal superhero since all his 'powers' come from absurd inventions malfunctioning at the worst possible minutes.

Difficulties and Final Showdown
As soon as Krokov learns more about Natalia's intents, he sends a team of punks to stop her. With his misconceptions of spy grandeur, Woody, as Condorman, manages to save Natalia from the villains in a bold rescue objective. This part of the movie displays some traditional Disney-style stunts that include airborne goes after, bullet-dodging protected cars and trucks, and boat clashes. The movie culminates in a showdown where this not likely hero faces Krokov and his group in the final battle off the coast of Monte Carlo.

Final Thoughts
While 'Condorman' was not a definite success at package workplace or with critics upon its initial release, it managed to create a niche following. It provided a story where a typical male ends up being a non-traditional superhero by using his creativity and resourcefulness. It's an interesting reminder of the period's fun-loving, family-friendly experience movies. Moreover, the combination of comic book fandom, Cold War intrigue, and joyous slapstick uses an amusing look for fans of classic films.
