An out-of-town heist becomes a nightmare for a crew of French burglars when they mistakenly rob the head of the Chicago mafia. Unaccustomed to the ways of the American underworld, it is not long before they have the mafia, the FBI and a couple of street gangs on their backs as they attempt to make their way back to Paris.

Intro
"Crime Spree" is a 2003 film directed by Brad Mirman and mainly starring Gérard Depardieu, Harvey Keitel, Johnny Hallyday, Renaud, and Saïd Taghmaoui. It is a funny mix of criminal activity and comedy that portrays some French goons attempting to guide their method through the criminal underworld of Chicago.

Plot and Characters
Depardieu plays Daniel Foray, the head of an unlucky gang of French intruders, that includes Marcel (Johnny Hallyday), Julien (Renaud), Zero (Saïd Taghmaoui), and Sami (Stéphane Freiss). Due to their incompetence, they continuously botch jobs, failing to please their Parisian manager Bastaldi (Richard Bohringer), who eventually banishes them to Chicago. They are entrusted with taking a pendant from a rich male living there.

In Chicago, they mistakenly target the home of infamous gangster Frankie Zammeti (Harvey Keitel), instead of the man they were expected to rob. After stealing his valuable jewelry, they discover themselves on the run from Zammeti, his henchmen, and likewise the FBI. Zammeti's right-hand male, an eccentric gangster called Ray (Abe Vigoda), likewise goes into the pursuit adding to the chaos.

Twists and Turns
As the French intruders attempt to navigate through Chicago's criminal underworld, they meet a lovely, street-smart American female, Sophie Nicols (Joanne Kelly), who assists them out in their predicament. Regardless of the language barriers and cultural mishaps, the unlikely allies collaborate to elude their pursuers, forming a bond while doing so.

The narrative continues with a series of hilariously disastrous encounters, errors, and bad moves as the French intruders turn the tables on their pursuers. They use their wit, a dash of luck, and ingenious planning to keep one action ahead, using a variety of disguises and strategies to outfox their opponents.

Climax and Conclusion
The movie climaxes with a remarkable showdown at a storage facility. Here, Foray and his gang face Zammeti and the FBI, leading to an uproarious ending involving a gunfight, settlements, and police intervention. Without ruining the end, the gang handles to survive their Chicago misadventures, concluding their crime spree in a manner as haphazard as they started.
