A former race car driver is abducted by a mysterious thief and forced to be the wheel-man for a crime that puts them both in the sights of the cops and the mob.

Film Overview
"Drive Hard" (2014) is an action-comedy movie directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith and co-written by Chad Law, Evan Law, and Smith himself. The film stars John Cusack as Simon Keller, a bank robber, and Thomas Jane as Peter Roberts, a former race automobile driver.

Plot Summary
The plot concentrates on Peter Roberts, a previous expert race vehicle motorist who is now residing in Australia and having a hard time to make ends meet as a chauffeur's education instructor. His life is reasonably uneventful until he meets Simon Keller, a supposed learner who attends his driving lessons. Nevertheless, Keller is an infamous burglar with a questionable plan.

From the onset, Keller reveals his intents and forces Peter to be his getaway driver in a planned bank burglary. After successfully robbing the bank, the duo starts a chaotic flight throughout the country with the cash while being pursued by the cops and mafia.

Character Evolution
Throughout their extreme journey, the two characters' viewpoints start to align in a strange solidarity. For Peter, this unwilling collaboration with Keller opens his eyes to the mundane reality of his presence, and the delights and imminent danger they deal with together activate a revival of his old, daring self. Similarly, Simon, notorious and hardened, establishes a grudging respect for Peter and his principles.

In the middle of evading the authorities and the unsafe males hunting them down, the set experiences a series of comical and exhilarating scenarios which slowly build their bond and blur the line between captive and accomplice.

Main Conflict and Resolution
As they get associated with different hazardous encounters throughout their escape, it becomes apparent that they were not merely running away from the law or the mafia - they were pawns in a much bigger plan. The cash they stole was from a corrupt real estate endeavor involving powerful people. By rebelling against their scripted fate as scapegoats, both Peter and Simon unintentionally expose a complex web of corruption.

In the climax of their journey, the duo challenges their pursuers. Simon winds up sacrificing himself to permit Peter to leave with the evidence of the corruption. This enables Peter to notify the authorities and clean his name. Simon, despite being caught, goes out with no remorses.

Final Thoughts
"Drive Hard" is a mix of action, funny, and thrilling components, including excellent cars and truck chases after and unanticipated plot-twisting conspiracies. While it starts as a story of a misinterpreted criminal and a washed-up race vehicle driver, it developed into a not likely partnership that exposes a bigger underworld of criminal activity. The movie depicts the advancement of two distinct characters and their battle versus a corrupt system-- all viewed through the lens of high-speed chases, humor, and escalating stakes.
