Driving cross-country, Ray and his wife and daughter stop at a highway rest area where his daughter falls and breaks her arm. After a frantic rush to the hospital and a clash with the check-in nurse, Ray is finally able to get her to a doctor. While the wife and daughter go downstairs for an MRI, Ray, exhausted, passes out in a chair in the lobby. Upon waking up, they have no record or knowledge of Ray's family ever being checked in.

Film Synopsis
"Fractured" is a suspenseful 2019 American mental thriller directed by Brad Anderson and composed by Alan B. McElroy. Star Sam Worthington stars as the movie's protagonist, Ray Monroe. The film focuses on Ray, his wife Joanne (played by Lily Rabe), and their young child Peri (Lucy Capri).

Plot Overview
The story begins with Ray, Joanne, and Peri on a long journey back home from going to relatives over the holiday. Throughout a pit stop, Peri is injured and knocked unconscious after taking an accidental fall. In panic and seeking urgent medical treatment, Ray rushes her to the closest medical facility. Joanne, regardless of her arguments with Ray, is obliged to accompany.

At the health center, while going through a basic medical procedure mandated by Dr. Berthram (Stephen Tobolowsky), Peri and Joanne mysteriously vanish. The health center administration offers Ray with records indicating that his partner and child were never ever admitted. This triggers an intensifying fear in Ray as he fears that his family has actually either been abducted or even worse.

Secret and Search
Ray's efforts to find his family intensify in urgency and strength. He presumes a conspiracy is at play within the shoddy healthcare facility, and even thinks that the medical personnel are gaslighting him to cover their plan. Ray continues to investigate the secret but discovers himself caught in a Kafkaesque nightmare, with the entire medical facility management insistent that he arrived at the healthcare facility alone and that there was no trace of his household.

Climax and Revelation
In his desperate search, Ray experiences a series of twisty corridors, disguised tunnels, and secret operations that practically turn the medical facility into a harmful labyrinth. As his examination heightens, he reveals horrifying organ harvesting treatments taking place in the hospital's basement, offering apparent proof of misdeeds by the medical personnel, seemingly justifying his paranoia.

However, the greatest twist can be found in the end; a series of flashbacks reveal that Ray was in a cars and truck accident due to his drinking and argument with Joanne. The accident resulted in Joanne and Peri's deaths, making all the events in the healthcare facility a manifestation of Ray's rejection and regret. The twist in the narrative includes depth to his character, showing that he wasn't paranoid but fractured psychologically and emotionally, hence the movie's title.

Conclusion
When the truth of his circumstance finally hits him, Ray can no longer leave the uncomfortable truth. His final shot shows him headed back home, with the 'bodies' of his spouse and daughter in the backseat-- revealing just how dramatically his mind was impacted by his extensive loss and guilt.

"Fractured" is a dark and jolting mental journey. The movie is a blend of extreme feelings, secret, and suspense that leaves the audience questioning truth up until the final discovery. It portrays an expedition of psychological injury, recommending how rejection and regret can control a person's perceptions of truth when having a hard time to manage terrible loss.
