When Billy Peltzer is given a strange but adorable pet named Gizmo for Christmas, he inadvertently breaks the three important rules of caring for a Mogwai, and unleashes a horde of mischievous gremlins on a small town.

Film Overview
"Gremlins" is an American comedy scary movie launched in 1984, directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg, considered a classic of the 1980s. The motion picture showcases an unique mix of scary, comedy, and fantasy aspects focusing on the mischief triggered by small, monstrous animals called Gremlins.

Plot & Characters
The story starts when a having a hard time creator called Randall Peltzer check outs Chinatown in New York City looking for a remarkable Christmas gift for his boy Billy. He comes across a mysterious store run by a senior Chinese male; here, he finds a distinct animal called a Mogwai. In spite of the shop owner's initial rejection, Randall handles to persuade the old man's grand son to sell him the creature with 3 essential guidelines: never expose the Mogwai to sunshine, never get it damp, and, most importantly, never feed it after midnight.

Problem Begins
Billy becomes keen on the Mogwai, which he names Gizmo. Nevertheless, after mistakenly spilling water on Gizmo, the animal multiplies, spawning brand-new Mogwai. One of these new creatures fools Billy into feeding them after midnight by damaging the clock. As a result, these brand-new Mogwai transform into destructive green monsters-- the eponymous Gremlins.

Gremlins Wreak Havoc
The new animals, unlike Gizmo, are naughty, destructive, and downright dangerous. They unleash turmoil and terror on the unsuspecting town, trashing all elements of life during the Christmas vacation. They wreak havoc on homes, the bar where Billy's girlfriend Kate works, a cinema, and numerous other places.

Battle & Resolution
Billy, Kate, and Gizmo stand versus the Gremlin army. They find sunshine is fatal to Gremlins and create a strategy to expose the creatures to daytime. The climax happens in a department store face-off where Stripe, the Gremlin leader, is defeated. Trying to increase himself using a water fountain, Stripe is exposed to sunshine by Gizmo prior to he can complete his plan, effectively killing all remaining Gremlins.

Ending
In the consequences, the original owner of Gizmo comes to recover him, admonishing the Peltzers for their recklessness and meaning the larger moral of the film: "You do with Mogwai what your society has actually done with all of nature's gifts". Hence, the movie ends on a somewhat somber note.

Effect and Reception
"Gremlins" received important honor for its initial concept, humor, and dark, satirical take on consumerist society. Although it was noted for its mix of horror and comedy, it stirred debate due to its violent and dark scenes, which caused the development of the PG-13 score in Hollywood. In spite of this, "Gremlins" was a business success, sealing its location as a classic and prominent film in the horror-comedy category.
