Joe Moore has a job he loves. He's a thief. His job goes sour when he gets caught on security camera tape. His fence, Bergman, reneges on the money he's owed, and his wife may be betraying him with the fence's young lieutenant. Moore and his partner, Bobby Blane, and their utility man, Pinky Pincus, find themselves broke, betrayed, and blackmailed. Moore is forced to commit his crew to do one last big job.

While Joe and Fran's complex relationship brews mistrust, a series of double and triple crosses unwind throughout the movie. Jimmy Silk, who earlier succumbed to Fran, attempts to kill Joe to take the gold and Fran for himself. Nevertheless, Fran, who's in cahoots with Joe, end up eliminating Jimmy instead.

Near the end, Joe finally confronts Mickey assuming that the latter would shoot him dead. Mickey's suspicion is aroused as he is aware that Joe is too wise to get caught just like that. Following his hunch, Mickey figures that Joe has actually pulled him a fake offer, and the real gold should be concealed somewhere else for Joe and Fran to escape away. To his surprise, Joe has prepared it all along, and Mickey falls under his trap in an attempt to shoot Joe. Bobby and Pinky, in disguise, shoot Mickey dead, avenging their disguised deaths that paved Joe's clean escape.

In "Heist", circumstances take unanticipated turns when loyalties and forecasts fail. It's a best mix of thriller and unanticipated plot twists that keep the audience grasped till completion.
