Hercules comes to the aid of a young woman who is seeking the lost city of Troy. Eventually, Hercules leads her to a camp of refugees from the city, which has been taken over by Hera's Blue Priests. Hercules helps the refugees take back the city. "Hercules and the Lost Kingdom" is the second movie-length pilot episode of the television series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys".

Beginning Premise

The prediction of the Oracle of Troy suggests that only Hercules can assist find Troy and its people. Taking the mission, Hercules first checks out the Oracle, who advises him to locate a 'stone heart' and a 'ring of fire' to expose Troy's place.

The Journey
Hercules, accompanied by Deianeira, starts his journey by looking for the 'stone heart.' They secure the heart from a fierce giant, discovering it to be a big, heart-shaped diamond. The duo then faces a fatal sea monster to obtain the 'ring of fire,' which turns out to be a ring of volcanic rocks enclosed in a gold band.

Encounter With Blue Priest
While continuing with their mission, Hercules and Deianeira satisfy the Blue Priest and his followers, who have enclosed the city of Troy within a wonderful wall. Heaven Priest claims to possess invulnerability bestowed by Hera, rendering Hercules's fight methods useless. Deianeira distracts the Blue Priest, just to be held captive, while Hercules is tossed into the sea.

Hero's Rise, Villain's Fall
Hercules makes it through and burglarizes the city of Troy through a secret tunnel. On the other hand, Deianeira tricks the Blue Priest into admitting that the 'invulnerability' claim was a lie, and she manages to eliminate him. When Hercules reaches her, Deianeira is dying due to a poisoned blade. Her last wish is for Hercules to restore Troy.

Conclusion - The Return of Troy
Hercules satisfies Deianeira's desire by placing the stone heart and ring of fire in the city's temple. Deianeira's spirit appears, and she hands him a torch to light the city with. When Hercules lights the flame, it activates a series of events that reveal Troy's concealed walls. The trapped locals, consisting of Deianeira's mother, are finally released. The movie ends with Hercules watching over the city and carrying on for his next journey.

"Hercules and the Lost Kingdom" is an appealing blend of mythology, action, and adventure. The film excellently depicts Hercules's character as a warrior filled with compassion and determination. The cast, especially Kevin Sorbo and Renée O'Connor, deliver remarkable performances that add depth to the story.
