John Wick is forced out of retirement by a former associate looking to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to aid him, Wick travels to Rome and does battle against some of the world’s most dangerous killers.

Introduction
"John Wick: Chapter 2", the 2nd installation in the popular John Wick movie series, was released in 2017. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the action-packed movie further broadens on the character's story, pressing him deeper into the lethal world of international assassins. Keanu Reeves repeats his function as the title character, while the film introduces new characters and returning faces from the very first movie, consisting of Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, and Riccardo Scamario.

Plot
The film starts with John Wick obtaining his stolen automobile from the first film from a New York slice store. The film then introduces an essential element of the series' tradition- a "marker", a blood oath that Wick offered to Camorra lord Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) in exchange for assistance during his difficult task. D'Antonio comes to gather this debt, requesting Wick to assassinate his sibling, Gianna, so he can rise to her seat at the High Table, a council of powerful crime lords.

The Assassination
Despite his preliminary rejection, Wick is bound by the guidelines of the underworld, particularly that all markers need to be honored, and unwillingly accepts the job. He takes a trip to Rome, where he prepares for the objective by procuring a variety of weapons and equipment. He infiltrates a celebration Gianna is going to and confronts her. In an unexpected twist, Gianna chooses to commit suicide to pass away on her own terms, but Wick finishes the job as asked for, shooting her as she dies.

The Chase and Return Home
This action provokes a bounty on Wick's head, resulting in fights and adrenaline-fueled chases after through the catacombs of Rome, the streets of New York, and even an art display. Along the method, Wick takes down various assassins looking for the bounty. A betrayal by D'Antonio, the igniter of this chaos, ignites more anger and determination in Wick. The climax is bloody, culminating in an intense neutral-ground face-off at the Continental Hotel, where Wick kills D'Antonio-- a direct offense of the Continental's guidelines.

Conclusion
It is here that "John Wick: Chapter 2" concludes, establishing greater stakes for the next installation. Wick, now officially labeled "excommunicado" with a doubled bounty on his head and cut off from all services and ties to the underworld, is on the run. The film closes with Wick and his dog running through New York's Central Park, further demonstrating the relentless speed of this electrifying thriller series.

General Assessment
"John Wick: Chapter 2" effectively builds upon the universe developed in the very first movie, expanding lore while elating audiences with stylishly harsh action series. Reeves delivers an extraordinary performance as the titular anti-hero, and the supporting cast, consisting of returning and brand-new characters, handle to effectively establish their roles. The film, therefore, marks a successful and thrilling continuation of John Wick's legend, revealing more about this unsafe world's intricacies while developing an effective setup for the next chapter.
