Knight Rider 2010 (1994)

Knight Rider 2010 Poster

Loosely based on the popular television series of the 80's, this movie brings the story into an apocalyptic time and a new "KITT".

Introduction
"Knight Rider 2010" is a television movie loosely linked to the earlier television series "Knight Rider". Released in 1994 as part of a series of television films called "Action Pack", it doesn't follow the original idea or story of the Knight Rider franchise, other than for the existence of a talking cars and truck. This action/sci-fi movie was directed by Sam Pillsbury and written by John Leekley and Glen Morgan.

Setting and Characters
The film is embeded in a dystopian future, where society has collapsed and water is better than gold. The protagonist is Jake McQueen (played by Richard Joseph Paul), a "scavenger" in a dry environment called the Wastes. He is an expert in changing abandoned items into practical ones. When Jake comes across a furry animal named Hannah (played by Hudson Leick), their story begins. Hannah, who ended up being a magical human cyborg, ends up being the voice of the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT) automobile, the talking supercar.

Plot
The plot revolves around Jake's battle against Jared, his dictatorial wicked half-brother and the leader of a mega-corporation monopolizing water resources. Jared, with his eyes on Hannah's chip, desires to exploit her scientific understanding to enhance his sinister plans. Nevertheless, Hannah implants her neural chip into Jake's cars and truck before dying, transforming it into a high-speed, sentient car.

Jake, now helped by this armored, AI-based 'KITT,' sets out to secure the Wastes from Jared's tyranny. As they browse through trials, Jake and KITT form an unbeatable team, each ending up being an essential part of the other. Together they battle enemies, protect the innocents, and defy near-impossible chances.

Resolution and Conclusion
At the end of the movie, Jake and KITT handle to vanquish Jared and liberate their world from his control. They ensure that water, the important life resource, is no longer monopolized but offered to all. Hannah's sacrifice, therefore, does not enter vain as she effectively equips Jake with what he requires to bring justice to an oppressed world.

Overall Review
"Knight Rider 2010" is a shift from the original Knight Rider series. It's not about a crime-fighter with a state-of-the-art car, rather, the motion picture gets a post-apocalyptic twist. While humanizing the automobile with Hannah's consciousness is an unique take, the lack of shared functions with the initial Knight Rider may be a little disappointing for devoted fans. Nevertheless, if you love dystopian settings blended with action, this motion picture can use a satisfying trip.
