An aimless ne'er-do-well becomes a tour guide in a historic estate and winds up befriending the manor's resident ghost.

Overview
"Lady of the Manor" is a comedy film released in 2021. Directed by Justin Long and his sibling Christian Long, the film is an amusing mix of raucous humor and heart. It stars Melanie Lynskey, Judy Greer, Justin Long, Luis Guzmán, and Ryan Phillippe.

Plot
"Lady of the Manor" follows the story of Hannah, a down-on-her-luck stoner (Melanie Lynskey) who is hired as a tour guide by a historic manor. Hannah is provided the job of depicting Lady Wadsworth (Judy Greer), a Southern belle from the era before the Civil War who was killed by her own husband. As it turns out, Lady Wadsworth's ghost is not too pleased with her portrayal by the slacker Hannah.

Unhappy with Hannah's objection to respect her story and the manor, Lady Wadsworth's spirit haunts Hannah and presses her to end up being a more refined and informed woman. There's a much heavier emphasis on funny, though, as the two eventually end up being not likely good friends. Concurrently, they decipher the secret of Lady Wadsworth's murder. Hannah, initially resistant, turns towards self-betterment, and Lady Wadsworth discovers peace that she has been seeking for more than a century.

Efficiency & Direction
The efficiencies of Melanie Lynskey and Judy Greer stick out in the movie. Lynskey's portrayal of the unrefined, silly Hannah provides numerous laugh-out-loud moments. On the other hand, Greer provides an exceptional efficiency as the uptight ghost of Lady Wadsworth. Their unique chemistry drives the film. Justin Long and his brother Christian Long manage to combine the components of comedy and secret efficiently, making the viewing a pleasurable experience.

Themes
"Lady of the Manor" mainly explores styles of friendship and personal development. The unlikely friendship between Hannah and Lady Wadsworth works as the movie's heart and through their interactions, both characters have the ability to grow. Hannah progresses from an aimless stoner to a more responsible person. Girl Wadsworth, on the other hand, is finally able to discover closure to her awful life and death.

Reception
"Lady of the Manor" got combined evaluations from critics and audiences alike. Some praised the film's humor and the performances of Lynskey and Greer. In contrast, critics argued that the plot could be more cohesive. Regardless, "Lady of the Manor" is a light-hearted, feel-good movie that provides a lot of laughs and a distinct twist on the ghost-story genre.
