Leprechaun 3 (1995)

Leprechaun 3 Poster

It was a normal night in Las Vegas, Nevada, all the lights were flashing brightly, until a man with one hand, one eye, and one leg walks into a pawn shop with a statue of a hideous looking Leprechaun. The owner claims it's a good luck charm. The statue also wore a medallion around it's neck. The careless pawn shop owner took off the medallion setting the Leprechaun free...

Plot Summary
"Leprechaun 3" is a 1995 black comedy horror film directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith and is the 3rd installment of the Leprechaun series. The movie centers around a malicious Leprechaun who brings about pots of frightening misfortune instead of gold and cheer.

The film starts with a lone wanderer selling a cursed one-legged statue of a Leprechaun to a Las Vegas pawn shop, alerting that guarding the attached gold shilling and not touching the character is of utmost value. However the doubtful store owner dismisses his cautionary cautions and curiously gets rid of the medallion, reviving the magical Leprechaun.

Main Characters and Events
The protagonist, Scott McCoy, a college student driving to California for school, stops in Las Vegas and remains at the Lucky Shamrock Casino, where he satisfies Tammy Larsen. Tammy is a magician's assistant who suffers the misery of her vehicle breaking down. Scott helps her and is thanked with a complimentary show pass. Both discover themselves tangled in the trouble caused by the Leprechaun.

Back at the pawn shop, the owner is murdered by the Leprechaun, who then seeks his pot of gold coins, mistakenly shipped to the Lucky Shamrock. On hearing the myth that a Leprechaun needs to give a wish to anybody who holds among his coins, Scott wishes to win at the casino, making his betting spree successful till the Leprechaun interrupts.

The Leprechaun's Curse
Scott gets bitten by the Leprechaun protecting Tammy, triggering him to gradually transform into a Leprechaun himself. He has the powers of the Leprechaun and attempts to use them to secure his and Tammy's safety.

Meanwhile, the Leprechaun damaged anybody who encounters his coins in the casino, satisfying their dreams in lethal, paradoxical twists.

Resolution
Scott and Tammy discover the horrors of the pawn store, learning through a training video about the Leprechaun's damage and how it can be stopped. According to the video, menstruation can be reversed by ruining the Leprechaun. Inspired by this, they lure the creature into a magic show, where they manage to set him on fire. However, not entirely encouraged of their success, they recover the medallion thought to prevent the Leprechaun's powers.

Conclusion
"Leprechaun 3" is an interesting turn for the Leprechaun series, benefiting from Las Vegas's buzzing setting to develop an excellent play area for the Leprechaun's mischief. Nevertheless, its storyline, although amusing, falls into a foreseeable and uneventful climax, with the Leprechaun easily defeated by magic. There exists critical disagreement on whether "Leprechaun 3" is a b-movie classic or a missed chance.
