Overview"Nothing Left to Fear" is a 2013 supernatural horror movie directed by Anthony Leonardi III and produced by Slasher Films. The movie includes a little cast including Clancy Brown, Anne Heche, Ethan Peck, Rebekah Brandes and Jennifer Stone. The story revolves around a household that moves to a remote rural town that holds an ominous trick.
PlotThe film opens with Pastor Kingsman (Clancy Brown) leading a church service. He retires and suggests his replacement, Pastor Dan (James Tupper), who relocates to the peaceful, religious town of Stull, Kansas with his spouse, Wendy (Anne Heche), and their 3 children, Rebecca (Rebekah Brandes), Mary (Jennifer Stone), and Christopher (Carter Cabassa). The tight-knit neighborhood is tight-lipped but apparently welcoming.
Increasing TensionTaking control of the church, Dan gets to engage more with the community and becomes aware of an odd sense of anxiousness just beneath the surface area. His suspicions grow as he finds clues hinting at something dark and ominous within the town. On the other hand, his children have their own encounters with the town's problems - Rebecca begins having dreadful problems and Mary falls inexplicably ill after a bite from a strange creature. Mary's health problem intensifies, and she turns violent, leading the household and the town towards chaos.
Unveiling the Dark SecretIt is exposed that Stull, Kansas is not a regular town but one of the 7 entrances to hell, which needs a sacrifice to keep closed. Every generation, the town sacrifices a 'pure' individual to keep the portal shut. Individuals of the town had orchestrated Pastor Dan's arrival for this function, meaning Mary to be the next victim. Mary eventually transforms into a satanic force, leading to ravaging and lethal consequences.
EndingIn a tense conclusion, the household tries to save Mary, but their efforts fail. Mary's demon kind is eventually eliminated by the Pastor Kingsman, who deeply regrets his part in the rituals. Rebecca and Christopher are the only survivors, fleeing Stull to start a brand-new life, while Pastor Dan and Wendy unfortunately perish. The ominous cliff-hanger at the end hints that Stull's painful cycle will begin once again with a brand-new pastor and his household.
Crucial ReceptionCritics had mixed reviews about this movie; some applauded its atmospheric horror and story while others slammed its cliched tropes and absence of creativity. The soundtrack, composed by Slash, produced buzz and praise.
