A deadly airborne virus finds its way into the USA and starts killing off people at an epidemic rate. Col. Sam Daniels' job is to stop the virus spreading from a small town, which must be quarantined, and to prevent an over reaction by the White House.

Intro

On the other hand, a monkey, which is a carrier of the Motaba virus, is unlawfully shipped from Zaire to the United States and released into the wild by a disheartened animal handler after a family pet shop didn't buy it. A maverick, James "Jimbo" Scott (Patrick Dempsey) handles to steal and sell the monkey to the pet store. He and the store owner get infected with the infection, which commences the infection chain in America.

Escalation and Crisis
The virus quickly spreads out in Cedar Creek, California, causing lots of deaths.
