The film is a remake of Luc Besson's 1990 movie "Nikita". The plot focuses on a drug-addicted female sentenced to death, whose life is spared when she is recruited as a secret government assassin.

Premise
Bridget Fonda plays the role of Maggie Hayward, a wild and volatile drug abuser who experiences a spasm of violent conduct that leads to the murder of a policeman. Consequently, Maggie is sentenced to death, but offered a 2nd opportunity when Gabriel Byrne's cold and strange character, Bob, provides her an unusual opportunity.

Life as an Assassin
Bob phases her execution, fabricating her death to erase her previous life, and hires her into a private assassination program under the wing of Anne Bancroft's character, Amanda. Under Amanda's rigorous training, that includes manners, makeup abilities, and battling techniques, Maggie transforms into a fine-tuned and competent secret operative referred to as Nina.
