Introduction
"Riddick" is a 2013 American sci-fi action movie directed by David Twohy and the third installment in the Riddick film series, following "Pitch Black" (2000) and "The Chronicles of Riddick" (2004). The film stars Vin Diesel in the titular role, reprising his iconic character Richard B. Riddick, an unsafe yet resourceful anti-hero in a futuristic dystopian universe. The film likewise stars Karl Urban, Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine, and Raoul Trujillo.

Plot Summary
The movie starts with Riddick, betrayed and left for dead by his own individuals on a desolate and sun-scorched planet. Riddick is required to adjust to the hostile environment and ward off different predatory alien creatures that occupy the planet. As Riddick struggles to endure, he reflects on his past and his rise to power as the leader of the Necromonger empire.

Riddick quickly finds an abandoned mercenary outpost where he triggers a distress beacon to lure in unsuspecting mercenary ships. Two different groups of mercenaries arrive, each intent on declaring Riddick's bounty. The first group, led by Santana (Jordi Mollà), is a ragtag crew of callous bad guys, while the second group, led by Boss Johns (Matt Nable), is comprised of more professional soldiers. The 2 groups clash as they contend to catch Riddick, who has been averting them with his cunning and stealth.

Riddick's Counterattack
The mercenaries develop numerous strategies to capture Riddick, however he constantly manages to avoid them by utilizing his abilities and knowledge of the world's terrain. Riddick systematically kills off members of both groups, making it clear that he is a force to be considered. On the other hand, a lethal storm methods, bringing with it an army of fierce and meat-eating animals that pose an even greater danger to the mercenaries.

Throughout the film, Riddick demonstrates his resourcefulness, fast thinking, and remarkable fight skills. He forms an uneasy alliance with Boss Johns and his team to combat off the approaching horde of animals as they look for sanctuary in the deserted outpost. Riddick also begins to bond with a dog-like animal belonging to the planet, who becomes his loyal companion.

Climax and Resolution
As the storm closes in and the animals emerge in a ruthless assault, Riddick and the making it through mercenaries form a makeshift defense to hold off the onslaught. During the fight, a number of members of the group are killed, and Riddick is seriously injured. Employer Johns ultimately finds out the fact about his missing son, William J. Johns, who was included in the first movie "Pitch Black". Riddick exposes that William died heroically and that he had earned Riddick's regard.

In the end, Santana tries to betray Riddick and claim the bounty, just to be outsmarted and eliminated by Riddick himself. With the animals defeated and the storm passed, Riddick strikes a deal with Boss Johns. In exchange for their liberty and a ship to leave the planet, Riddick demands passage to his house world, Furya.

Conclusion
"Riddick" functions as a go back to the series' roots, focusing on the character's survival, resourcefulness, and cunning. The film includes intense action series and an exhilarating survival story as Riddick faces off against both human and alien adversaries. It is a fitting extension of Vin Diesel's iconic character and leaves the door open for potential future entries in the series.
