Movie Background
"The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday" is a 1976 American comedy-western movie directed by Don Taylor and starring Lee Marvin, Oliver Reed, Robert Culp, and Kay Lenz. The story occurs in the early 20th century and covers themes like vengeance, deception, corruption, and romance.

Plot Overview
The film focuses on the life of Sam Longwood (Lee Marvin), an aging scout, who forms a not likely hierarchy with his partners, Joe Knox (Oliver Reed) and Billy (Strother Martin). They are on a quest to revenge and look for restitution from their previous partner, Jack Colby (Robert Culp), who betrayed them years back. Jack stole all the gold they discovered together during the Alaska Gold Rush and left Sam and his friends to pass away in the harsh wilderness. He further contributes to his betrayal by weding Sam's love interest, Nancy Sue (Elizabeth Ashley).

Secret Characters and Relationships
Lee Marvin plays Sam Longwood, a previous scout who discovers himself engrossed in a quest for revenge against his old golddigging partner, Jack. He partners with Billy and Joe, both having different yet entertaining personalities. Billy, who claims to be an Indian, and Joe, a 'prince', offer comic relief throughout the storyline. Their shared past of betrayal creates a bond in between the trio, working together to get back what truly comes from them.

Sam's relationship with Nancy Sue is complicated. Even though she weds Jack, their chemistry remains intact throughout the movie. There's an undercurrent of recurring love in between them, in spite of their troubled past.

Mission for Revenge
Their mission for vengeance takes an amusing turn when they 'abduct' a woman of the street called Thursday (Kay Lenz), thinking she is Colby's girlfriend. However, they latter find out that she is not connected to Colby. Nonetheless, Thursday proves to be a vital possession in their revenge mission. They utilize her to bring in the attention of Jack and allure him in their plot to get their gold back.

Resolution and Conclusion
Regardless of dealing with considerable setbacks, the trio manages to penetrate Jack's greatly secured mansion and face him. After a comical brawl and chaotic twist, they prosper in avenging their previous betrayal. Jack is deceived into providing all his wealth consisting of the stolen gold to them and is left penniless.

In the end, "The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday" mixes Western aspects with funny. The characters' friendship, combined with the component of vengeance and grudge, makes the motion picture a delightful watch. Regardless of being embeded in a typical wild west setting, the film defies the stereotypes to develop a complex narrative filled with humor and action. The film likewise whiffs a subtle message of justice interspersed with the eccentricities and recklessness of its characters.
