Movie Overview
"The Hit List" is a 2011 American action thriller movie directed by William Kaufman and starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Cole Hauser. The film focuses on an annoyed workplace worker who, during an inebriated night at a bar, fulfills a strange stranger and jokingly shares a list of people he desires dead, not recognizing the stranger is an expert hitman who turns the list into a sinister, real-life plot.

Plot Summary
Jonas Arbor (Gooding Jr.), an expert assassin struggling with a severe medical condition and individual issues, chooses to go on a killing spree. Allan Campbell (Hauser), a depressed structural engineer reeling from a job demotion and betrayal by his cheating partner and friend, comes across Jonas at a bar. In a drunken state, Allan shares his fantasy "struck list", comprising of five names, including his partner, her lover, his employer, an unethical staff member, and an established union worker. He does this largely as a joke and an act of venting his frustrations, never envisioning the deadly effects that would follow.

Jonas, translating Allan's list as a serious agreement, starts an objective to assassinate each person on the list, leaving Allan in a state of scary as he realizes the deadly consequences of his inebriated conversation. As bodies begin to pile up, Allan discovers himself under investigation by Detective Neil McKay, who starts to link the dots between the victims.

Twists and Conclusions
In a desperate effort to stop the murders, Allan tries to warn his boss and his wife, but he is thought of being involved in the criminal offenses. With Jonas always a step ahead, Allan's life takes a harmful turn as he becomes the main suspect in the investigation led by Detective McKay.

In the climax, Allan is revealed attempting to conserve his separated spouse from Jonas. A violent conflict takes place in between Allan, Jonas, and the authorities, where Allan's spouse is killed, however Allan eventually subdues and kills Jonas.

Important Reception
"The Hit List" is a movie that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat with its appealing story and appealing efficiencies, specifically from Cuba Gooding Jr. and Cole Hauser. While it is basic action fare, its special plot twist of a hitman taking a drunken discussion seriously gives it a troubling, suspenseful edge. Critics have applauded the movie's dramatic tension and action series but slammed it for its lack of character development and complicated subplots. Despite the combined reviews, "The Hit List" still manages to meet its function as a thrilling cat-and-mouse game filled with thriller and unexpected turns.
