Overview
"The Operator" is a mental thriller composed and directed by Jon Dichter. Released in 2000, the film stars Jacqueline Kim, Michael Laurence, and Brion James. The plot revolves around a vindictive attorney, his tormented victim and the repercussive effects originated from a careless 911 call.

Plot
The plot starts with a big-headed yet extremely successful lawyer, Gary Wheelan (Michael Laurence) in Dallas, Texas. Gary leads a glamorous, high-flying life up until he vents his disappointment on a 911 operator, Sherry, throughout a 'wrongful' mishap alert. Taking it personally, Sherry, having actually had enough of individuals treating her badly, decides to torture Gary endlessly using her understanding and control of technology and her access to individual information.

Vengeance Game
In her carefully crafted revenge video game, Sherry unearths incriminating evidence versus Gary and makes his life a living problem. She ruthlessly yet totally directs him through numerous circumstances, revealing she understands everything about him, including his past and his criminal deeds. She violates his privacy, disrupts his life, calls him at odd hours, and, some may say, abuses him psychologically.

Gary's life then spirals out of control, along with his relationship. He loses his partner Pamela (Jacqueline Kim); his task is at stake, and he constantly feels haunted due to Sherry's vindictive maneuvers. The film keeps audiences on their toes wondering what Sherry will do next and generates compassion for both villain-cum-victim Gary and revenge-driven Sherry. With its gripping tale of karmic justice, "The Operator" supplies a rewarding, albeit unexpected, experience to the audience.
