Down these mean streets a man must come. A hero born, murdered, and born again. A Rookie cop named Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus, who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face, has other plans; he is going to wipe out the entire city.

Overview
"The Spirit" is a 2008 film directed by Frank Miller, popular for his work on comic books like "Sin City" and "300". Based upon the paper comic strip of the same name by Will Eisner, the motion picture blends live-action with considerable digital backgrounds to imitate the visual style of a traditional graphic novel. The story centers on its titular character, The Spirit (Gabriel Macht), a former novice cop who inexplicably returns from the dead to safeguard Central City from a crime lord known as The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson).

Main Plot
The motion picture opens with The Spirit patrolling the city and recollecting about his past. We learn he was when a regular cop called Denny Colt, thought to have been killed on the job, but he has in some way returned, changed and indestructible, devoted to combating crime as The Spirit. Throughout a chase throughout the roofs, The Spirit comes across a femme fatale called Sand Saref (Eva Mendes), a youth enthusiast long believed to be dead. The entwining of their shared past fills a considerable part of the film's plot.

Villain's Spree
Meanwhile, the villain, The Octopus, is determined on seeking immortality. With his assistant Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson), The Octopus is on a spree, killing those who stand in his way. He arranges for a trade with Saref, who has a box thought to consist of the Golden Fleece, a mythical artifact that ensures eternal life. However, package that Octopus trades ends up to contain the Blood of Heracles, which would make him immortal.

Climax
The final showdown has The Spirit and The Octopus fight for supremacy, with The Spirit walking into a trap laid by The Octopus. Throughout the battle, The Spirit is unyielding and presses forward despite several gunshots, signifying his resilience and indestructibility. The Spirit manages to kill Octopus by throwing a grenade in his direction, the explosion consuming the latter.

Resolution
In the end, The Spirit decides to continue living and fighting criminal activity in Central City, declining the chance to entrust to Saref. The film concludes with him vowing to stay the city's unfaltering protector.

Vital Reception
"The Spirit", sadly, did not match the industrial or vital success of Frank Miller's previous works. Critics cited the film's uneven plot, over-stylized visuals, and sardonic humor as primary shortages. Nevertheless, the movie is a fascinating attempt to mix classic noir components with stylized comics aesthetics. The cast's performance strengthened by the stars' legacy provides a gripping viewing experience, specifically for fans of the category.
