Introduction
"The Stepford Wives" (2004) directed by Frank Oz, is a satirical romantic sci-fi thriller and a remake of the 1975 traditional film of the very same name. It stars Nicole Kidman as Joanna Eberhart, Matthew Broderick as her partner Walter Kresby, Bette Midler as expert author Bobbie Markowitz, and Christopher Walken as Mike Wellington, the strange and strange town leader.

Plot Summary
The story removes with Joanna Eberhart, a high-powered tv executive, who gets fired from her job. Due to her profession failure and subsequent nervous breakdown, Joanna, her other half Walter and their two children move from Manhattan to the stunning suburban town of Stepford, Connecticut, hoping to get a new beginning.

The town is distinct, with breathtakingly lovely and impossibly perfect other halves who are all blindly devoted to their hubbies, take care of the household chores and have no aspirations of their own. Joanna is signed up with by two other newbies, the tough Bobbie and the man-hating gay Roger, who are equally discomforted by the women of Stepford.

Strange Twists
While trying to get used to the relatively ideal and peaceful way of life, Joanna starts to see the strange habits of the Stepford Wives. She is led to believe that the guys in the town are behind their partners' robotic and submissive mindsets. Joanna, Bobbie, and Roger start to investigate, only to find a secret guys's association led by Mike Wellington, the town leader. After finding a weird "Stepford other half" model that recommends it's a robotic, Joanna ends up being convinced that the women of Stepford are being changed with submissive robots.

Unforeseen Revelation
In the climax, during a dramatic gathering at Mike's estate, Joanna is about to be become a Stepford spouse. The operation is stopped just in the nick of time by Walter, who alters his mind about the entire excellence idea and conserves Joanna. Shockingly, it is then revealed that Mike's other half Claire is in fact a robotic herself and the real mastermind behind turning all the Stepford wives into robotics. She was developed by Mike to be the ideal wife after his first better half's death, however eventually, she went out of control with her fixation with perfection. The story ends with the Stepford wives coming back to their senses followed by the women of Stepford reclaiming control of the town.

Conclusion
"The Stepford Wives" (2004) is a dark and funny social commentary on gender relations, challenging both standard and modern gender roles and expectations.
