Introduction
"The Wolverine" (2013) is a superhero movie directed by James Mangold, featuring the popular Marvel Comics character, Wolverine. It is the 6th installation in the X-Men film series and is a direct follow up to X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). The movie stars Hugh Jackman reprising his function as Logan/Wolverine, with a supporting cast that includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Rila Fukushima, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Tao Okamoto.

Plot
The movie begins with a flashback to Nagasaki in 1945, during the atomic battle. Logan conserves an officer named Yashida from the blast, exposing his mutant recovery powers at the same time. Fast forward to today time, Logan is residing in seclusion following the distressing events of The Last Stand, haunted by his immortality and the death of Jean Grey.

Logan is found by Yukio, a mutant with the ability to anticipate death. She represents Yashida, who's now a wealthy businessman near completion of his life. Yashida offers to move Wolverine's death to him due to the fact that he's passing away and in return assures to render Wolverine mortal. However, Logan declines the deal and Yashida passes away that night.

Conflict
Following Yashida's death, Logan is captured in a web of intrigue. Yashida's granddaughter, Mariko, is targeted by Yakuza at her grandpa's funeral in a tried kidnapping. Logan steps in, however all of a sudden has a hard time due to reducing recovery capability. He later on finds out that a parasite presented into his body by Viper, Yashida's physician, is hindering his healing factor.

Resolution
Logan ultimately saves Mariko and falls in love with her, however is later recorded by Viper and the reanimated Yashida, who faked his death. He aims to capture Wolverine's recovery factor by using a technologically-advanced suit of Samurai armor. However, with Yukio's help, he handles to get rid of the parasite from his body, regaining his healing power. After a difficult fight, Wolverine finally kills Yashida.

Conclusion
Despite preferring a regular life, Logan's last showdown with Yashida has him discovering his purpose. In the wake of the fight, Mariko ends up being the CEO of Yashida's corporation, while Logan leaves Japan, with Yukio as his bodyguard. As they take off on an airplane, Logan is approached by Magneto and Professor X, meaning a new danger and setting the phase for the next installment in the movie series.
