This quote by David Herbert Lawrence talks to the concept that our lives are frequently spent in pursuit of something, whether it be an objective, a dream, or a desire. We often think that if we can simply get to that place, then we will be happy and satisfied. Nevertheless, Lawrence recommends that this is not the case. He suggests that consciousness, or understanding our own presence, is an end in itself. We can invest our lives attempting to get someplace, however when we get there, it is ultimately no place, due to the fact that there is no supreme location. Rather, we need to focus on being mindful and aware of our own presence, and appreciate the journey, rather than focusing on the destination.
