This quote by Thomas Aquinas is a pointer that the method we perceive the world is not always the same as the way it actually is. We often draw distinctions in between things based upon our own experiences and beliefs, but these differences might not be accurate reflections of reality. For instance, we may draw a distinction in between 2 people based on their race, gender, or religion, but in truth, these distinctions may not be significant or appropriate. Aquinas is reminding us to be mindful of the differences we draw and to think about whether they are in fact reflective of truth. We should strive to be unbiased and to recognize that our own perspectives might not always be precise.
